With that notion, people have raised the issue of it being exploitative. As a woman, I consider beauty pageants nowadays really exploitative because the people as represented by the judges tend to compare a girl's beauty to another.  Girls seem to be judged based on their physical beauty rather than their inner beauty. The losers are exploited as they feel inferior over the others after being judged using a single standard of what beauty means. The women who participate are being exploited because they are being graded based on their physical appearance.  How can the judges know if the crowned candidate is really deserving when they only interact with a short period of time?
