Is Hunger a Tragedy?

Written by: John Fritz Paredes       Hunger is a tragedy not because there isn't enough food, but rather because of persistent poverty. Because of the hunger we experience, it will only depend on the effect of having something to eat. And if we don't work hard, this is the time we will feel hungry. To most people, hunger is a tragedy for many or some of our citizens lack employment because of their situation, that they didn't complete studies due to poverty.    If we are hungry, our body and mind will not function properly. My example is that if a student went to school without eating something will cause him or her to lose focus in class. A student who went to school without eating something will cause him or her to lose focus in class. He or she will lose interest on doing activities like performing. And he or she will never be in a good mood if they are hungry.   Hunger is a tragedy since many citizens lack employment because of poverty. One way is to he...

INFORMATION ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN PERFORMANCE TASK

Image
Assessment of learning in the twenty-first century does not only come with a pen and paper test. It also involves performance tasks which allow the learners show how much they have learned. One of the good things in a performance task is that it does not only give you the learned concepts in a single subject area but it can also show their learning across subject areas. The following videos showcase my students' outputs in making an Information Advocacy Campaign. In the following videos, not only the students show learning on what an Information Advocacy Campaign is all about but they also show their learning in ICT on the basic video editing skills, which tells us what kind of learners our 21st century students are. The contents of their outputs do not not only give encouragement to the viewers but in the first place give a message to them, as the video creators, the importance of giving value to oneself.  Click the youtube links provided for you to watch. Also, please cons...

ONE-ACT PLAY: A PERFORMANCE TASK IN THE NORMAL

Image
One of the many things teachers miss in the NORMAL face-to-face-learning-set-up is getting students collaboratively perform a task where they can apply their individual skills learned and join them together to come up with an output which we can all appreciate. A one-act play is one of the lessons in Grade 9 English which tries to make students understand the importance of the elements such as setting, plot, character, characterization, conflict, theme, suspense, and atmosphere in making a play. In a one-act play performance task, the learners try to develop good understanding on how verbal and non-verbal language (which includes body language, facial expression and changes in the voice) should work together to convey the meaning of the scences and have theme communicated to the viewers. Using the script of the "Super Dead Man", my Grade 9 English students performed a one-act play. Please click the youtube link below and enjoy watching. One-Act Play Consider liking the video ...
